MELROSE — The Holmen High School girls wrestling team scored 244 points to easily outscore the rest of the field at the Friday Night Fights event hosted by G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro on Friday.
The Vikings received championship performances from seniors Sophia Walter and Peyton Kratochvill, juniors Aini Anderson and Avalee Euler, sophomore Ruby Gustafson and freshman Kaina Westlie in the victory.
Tomah was second with 147 team points.
Walter (11-1) won at 235 pounds and finished all three of her matches by pin. Her longest bout lasted 1 minute, 38 seconds and came in the semifinal round.
Kratochvill (10-3) was victorious at 126 and won by pin in all four of her matches. She finished teammate Ellie Adam at 1:17 in the championship match.
Anderson (11-1) was unbeaten at 107 and won five times by pin. All of Anderson’s matches ended in 1:37 or quicker, and she needed just 30 seconds to finish runner-up Ivonne Rojas Ortiz of Whitehall (10-4).
Euler (7-1) swept through the 165 bracket and pinned De Soto freshman Nalani Rodgers (10-3) in 4:30 to win the championship. She also pinned quarterfinal and semifinal opponents.
Gustafson (11-2) won all four of her matches at 138. One was by medical forfeit, but the others came by pin. She pinned Eau Claire Memorial runner-up Sierra Bergen (7-7) in 3:38.
Westlie (10-1) was the 120-pound champion and won her eight-girls bracket with three pins. She advanced to the finals with a 45-second semifinal pin, then finished her match with Eau Claire Memorial’s Anne Green (9-3) in 1:25 for the win.
The Vikings also received second-place finishes from Adam, junior Kaytlynn Lambries (10-3, 132) and junior Celia Drogseth (7-5, 152).
West Salem/Bangor scored 128 points and was third.
Freshman Sophia Anderson and junior Lily Kasinger won individual championships for the Catbirds.
Anderson (14-1) won once by medical forfeit and three times by pin. She needed just 1:04 to stick Westby senior and runner-up Kylie Klum (7-2) in what amounted to the final of a round-robin bracket.
Kasinger (11-2) recorded four pins, and all were 1:11 of faster. Two of her matches lasted less than 1 minute, and one was finished in 15 seconds.
Freshman Raylyn Anderson (10-5, 107) and sophomore Ihlee Schniepp-Duffy (12-4, 126) both placed third for West Salem/Bangor.
Junior Payten Craig (12-5) was fifth at 126 for the G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro co-op after winning her final three matches.
