GALESVILLE — The West Salem High School girls basketball team has its first official winning streak of the season and gave coach Mike Malott a milestone victory while making that happen.
The Panthers built a 21-point lead by the end of the first half and extended that to a 75-42 Coulee Conference win that gave Malott the 400th of his career on Tuesday.
West Salem (2-2 overall, 2-0 Coulee) has begun its conference season with two wins by a combined 79 points after beginning with losses to MVC opponents Central and Holmen.
Senior Josie Brudos scored a game-high 20 points for the Panthers, getting 15 of those in the first half and knocking down a 3-pointer in the second.
Sophomore teammates Anna Witte and Amelia Karr added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for West Salem, which allowed 22 points in the first half and 20 in the second.
Onalaska Luther 58, La Crescent-Hokah 46
ONALASKA — The Knights (3-3) brought an end to a two-game losing streak by taking care of the visiting Lancers.
Sophomore Jayeda Livingston and Brinley Schmitz scored 12 points apiece to lead Luther, which pulled away from a four-point halftime lead. Livingston scored seven points in the first half and made two of her team’s seven 3-pointers. Schmitz also had seven in the first half.
Sophomore Natalie Hackbarth added 10 points and made two 3-pointers in the second half.
Holmen 36, Marshfield 26
HOLMEN — The Vikings (4-3) moved back above the .500 mark by ending a two-game losing streak.
Holmen carved out an eight-point lead after one half and held the Tigers to 10 second-half points.
Senior Charley Casey broke free for 16 points to lead the Vikings, who had scored 42 points in their previous two games combined. Casey scored 12 of her points in the first half to help Holmen to a 24-16 lead.
Reese Tierney added six points and Macy Kline five for the Vikings.
Tomah 54, Logan 32
TOMAH — The Rangers (1-5, 0-2 MVC) were beaten for the second time in a row after scoring 16 points in each half.
Senior Lydia Mason was Logan’s anchor with a team-high 18 points. Mason scored nine points in each half with six field goals and made 6 of 9 attempted free throws.
Freshman Josie Bacon added five points for the Rangers.
