WINONA — Holmen High School senior Sabrina Lechnir walked a away a champion, and the Vikings placed second in both girls and boys competition at the Jim Flim Invitational on Saturday.
Lechnir completed the course in 19 minutes, 42.2 seconds to comfortably beat runner-up Isabelle Katwa of Winona (20:42.5) and led Holmen to a score of 49 that was just one point behind champion Winona’s 48.
Junior Matthew Hoff was overall runner-up with his time of 16:43.2, and that helped the Vikings to a team score of 69. Winona won *65) and was led by champion Kedrick Boucek (16:23.4).
Holmen’s girls also received scoring runs from Nadia Wedan (seventh, 20:57.8), Ruby Kinsman (12th, 21:27.7), Reese Gamoke (16th, 21:37.7) and Claire Wagoner (23rd, 22:18.9).
Josiah Klumaczewski (12th, 17:47.1) and Casey Horman (14th, 17:54.4) also finished among the top 15 for Holmen’s boys. Hudson Moss (19th, 18:03.5) and Carter Sinn (24th, 17:16.4) also scored for the Vikings.
Logan’s boys finished eighth (189) and Onalaska’s ninth (278), and Logan’s Gabe Passe led those teams with a 10th-place performance (17:42.6).
Isaac Gabriel (35th, 18:28.3), Quinn Passe (39th, 18:47.2), Tate Kujak (48th, 19:15.3) and Gabe Driscoll (65th, 19:46.8) also scored for the Rangers.
The Hilltoppers were led by Carson Fink (34th, 18:37.5) and Luke Archer (49th, 19:15.5). Porter Mallady (61st, 19:40.2), Elliott Luecke (70th, 20:05.2) and Lewis Go (79th, 20:36.3) were third, fourth and fifth for Onalaska.
Onalaska’s girls finished sixth with a team score of 139 and led by Sadie Peterson (18th, 21:41.5) and Francesca Vriens (28th, 22:46.4). The Hilltoppers also received scoring finishes from Maya Hartman (38th, 23:07.5), Madelyn Davidheiser (40th, 23:12.1) and Claire Verzwyvelt (43rd, 23:23.4).

WAUSAU — West Salem’s boys placed second and its girls third among small Division 1 schools.
The Panthers had a team score of 66 and were only beaten by Shorewood (32). Sophomore Evan Berra led the way with a third-place overall finish and time of 16 minutes, 22. seconds.
Senior Carson Gronemus was fourth among individuals (16:33), and he was followed by teammates Andrew Lorenz (14th, 17:09), Kalen Spah (17th, 17:39.5) and Landon Rieber (28th,17:59.8).
The Panthers placed second in a field of 12 teams.
The girls were third in a nine-team field with a score of 73. Marshfield won with a 28 and was followed by Pulaski (42).
Freshman Nora Johnson led West Salem with a ninth-place finish and time of 20:47.7. Junior Sam MacRogers was also in the top 15 with her 13th-place time of 21:23.2.
Natalia Minard (16th, 21:39.8), Anna Witte (17th, 21:50.6) and Anna Knudson (18th, 21:55.4) also scored for the Panthers.
