HOLMEN — The Holmen High School ASL floor hockey team closed out the regular season and assured itself of a home playoff game with an 8-4 victory over visiting West Salem on Thursday.
The Panthers had nine players, and coach Ashly Serres said that made it tough to keep up with the Vikings, who scored four times in the first period and twice in the second and third.
Carter Van Lin scored three goals in the first period and two in the third, and Kian Carlisle scored once in the first period and once in the second for Holmen. Gwen Gomez also scored once, and Aiden Romskog had one goal and one assist.
Gabe Schams played in goal for the Vikings, who played good defense in front of him.
Levi Wulf scored all four goals for West Salem, which received 24 saves in goal from Emma Field.
Serres also praised the play of Tori Campbell, who she said played lockdown defense and got up the court to set up some goals with key passes.
Playoff games begin Tuesday.
