WEST SALEM — The Holmen High School ASL floor hockey team is still unbeaten with two games remaining before the playoffs start.
The Vikings continued their undefeated streak with a 6-3 victory over West Salem/Bangor at West Salem Middle School on Tuesday.
Jett Lewis scored twice in the second period to keep Holmen moving forward after securing a 2-1 lead after the first period, and the Panthers couldn’t catch up.
Holmen’s Carter Van Lin and Andrew Bell scored in the first period, and Bell’s goal snapped a 1-1 tie. Lewis pushed the Holmen lead to 4-1 by the end of the second, but two West Salem/Bangor goals in the third tightened things up.
Levi Wulf scored twice for the Panthers, who also received a goal from Braylon Todd.
Emma Field handled the goaltending for West Salem/Bangor and Dylan Schams for Holmen, which received two more goals from Van Lin in the third.
The Vikings excelled at puck-lifting, which has been a point of emphasis in practice, and hit West Salem/Bangor with a solid defense that made getting the puck to Field difficult.
Schams took care of things in goal with his stick and by covering loose pucks.
The Panthers showed resilience and determination by getting back into the game it he third before Van Lin broke things open.
