HOLMEN — The Holmen High School boys basketball team nearly allowed a double-figure halftime lead slip away but found a way to finish off a 63-60 nonconference win over New Richmond at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Senior Kaiden Wilber scored a team-high 17 points and made two of his team’s nine 3-pointers as it successfully put a four-point loss at Aquinas in the rearview mirror by winning for the third time in four games.
Sophomore Jayden Bartels added 15 points and made three 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds. Junior teammate Alex Berget made two 3s, scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Vikings (12-4), who play at Tomah on Monday.
Caledonia 88, Maple River 57
CALEDONIA — The third-ranked Warriors (19-2) improved their winning streak to eight games with a one-sided victory.
Senior Mason King made seven 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 38 points for Caledonia, which had a 58-26 lead by the end of the first half.
Garrett Konz added 17 points with two 3s and Reid Klug 15 points for the Warriors, who made 11 3-pointers.
