WEST SALEM — The West Salem ASL floor hockey team gave up two early goals but came back to force a 3-3 tie against Holmen at West Salem Middle School on Thursday.

Lexi Randall scored two goals and Bri Smith one for the Panthers in a game that included a five-minute overtime in front of a large crowd.

Levi Wulf stopped 23 shots in goal for West Salem, and coach Ashly Serres said the defense of Emma Field helped Wulf from having to work even harder against the Holmen offense.

The Vikings received two goals from Aiden Romskog — both in the first period — before Karsen Nelson scored to give them a 3-0 lead. The Panthers comeback included one goal in the second period and two in the third.

Carter Van Lin had 23 saves for Holmen, which had players changing spots in a search for the best lineup. Kai Rice was cited for her tough center defense and Logan Rastall for his play at right defense. Jack Teegan had several shots on goal.

The Vikings also controlled the first period through the defense of Gabriella Villareal, Josie Colombo and Jett Lewis, who shielded the puck from Van Lin throughout.

Onalaska 4, Logan 1

LA CROSSE — The Rangers were short-handed but used the guidance of captains Simon Mell and Benji Wood to play a close game against the visiting Hilltoppers.

Mell stopped 24 of the 25 shots directed at him and scored Logan’s only goal. Davante Atwell assisted on that goal.
