ONALASKA — Junior Sammy Davis scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the second half as the Aquinas High School girls basketball team handed Onalaska a 57-36 MVC defeat at John Shelton Court on Tuesday.
First-place Aquinas (10-3, 5-0) ran its winning streak to nine games as it prepares to play West Salem in the Midwest Players Classic at the La Crosse Center on Friday. The Blugolds also advanced their MVC winning streak to 107 games in a game that began with the Hilltoppers scoring 15 of the first 20 points.
Davis was the only Aquinas player to reach double figures, but senior Brooklyn Rohr made three 3-pointers for nine points, and senior Emma Dobbins and sophomore Ava Fernholz scored eight each.
Davis, Fernholz and Dobbins each had four rebounds, and Fernholz, Olivia Passehl and Eva Willenbring all had four assists. Davis led the team with five steals.
The Hilltoppers (6-7, 2-2) had seven players score between four and six points and made six 3-pointers. Kayla Ketelhut, Finley Walters, Tatum Walters and Lauren Pica all scored six points.
Central 42, Logan 21
LA CROSSE — The second-place RiverHawks (10-4, 3-1) only allowed the Rangers (2-11, 1-4) three points in the first half on the way to a win at the Steve Hole Field House.
Junior Emmerson Kenney scored a team-high 10 points for Central, and junior Alahnna Simpson added eight.
Junior Kaia DePaolo scored 10 points to lead Logan.
Holmen 53, Sparta 39
SPARTA — The second-place Vikings (6-6, 3-1) climbed back to the .500 mark overall with their third straight victory and third in a row in conference play.
Senior Danika Rebhahn made three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for Holmen, which plays at Central in a battle over second place on Thursday. Senior Imani Toso made four 3s for 12 points.
Junior Charley Casey pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds to go with her six points, and the Vikings built a lead of as many as 24 points in the second half. Junior Macy Kline added eight points for Holmen.
