Tuesday track and field: Coats and Johnson, Jones, Dobberstein, Passe all multiple event winners in local invitationals

LA CROSSE — The Logan High School boys and girls track and field teams swept championships during the Logan Invitational at Swanson Field n Tuesday.

The boys won with a team score of 240.5, and they had winners in six events to beat second-place West Salem (185).

Junior Gabe Passe was a double winner with victories in the 1,600-meter (4 minutes, 40.81 seconds) and 3,200 (10:07) runs.

Juniors Camden Daykin (pole vault, 11 feet, 6 inches), Sam King (shot put, 54-2.5) and Gabe Driscoll (800, 2:06.7) and sophomore James Freund (long jump, 19-10.5) also won events for the Rangers.

The Panthers received relay victories form their 400 (45.91) and 800 (1:34.09) teams and wins in four individual events.

Sophomore Jackson Seberg won the 100 (11.26), senior Andrew Stanton the 400 (51.04), sophomore Tavaryies Henderson the high jump (6-0) and junior Isahah Laack the discus (147-10).

Logan’s girls ran to a team score of 161.5, which provided a narrow victory over West Salem (160).

The Rangers received event wins from senior Maddie Cornett in the 100 (12.66) and junior Lilly Dettwiler in the long jump (16-9.5).

Junior Elise Flock won the 1,600 (5:36.15), junior Tula Mitchell won the high jump (4-8), and senior Maia Hutchens won the pole vault (9-0) for West Salem.

The Panthers also won the 400 (51.17), 800 (1:47.86) and 3,200 (11:04) relays.

Knight Invitational

ONALASKA — Holmen’s girls won the team championship with 118.5 points ahead of second-place Luther (106.5) and third-place Melrose-Mindoro (95), while Aquinas was fifth (63.5).

Luther’s boys won with a score of 139.5. Holmen was second (113), Melrose-Mindoro eighth (50) and Aquinas 10th (10).

Local event winners for the boys were: Holmen sophomore Casey Horman in the 800 (2:00.77), Luther junior Nathan Dobberstein in the 110 hurdles (15.91) and 300 hurdles (40.83), , Holmen sophomore Tay Parcher in the high jump (6-4), Luther senior Ayden Livingston in the long jump (20-3.5) and Peter Sobolik in the triple jump (37-1).

Relay victories went to Luther in the 400 (46.0) and 1,600 (3:48.22) and Melrose-Mindoro in the 3,200 (9:22.77).

Melrose-Mindoro junior Bristol Coats was a triple winner to lead local girls. Coats won the 200 (27.31), 300 hurdles (48.64) and long jump (16-10.75).

Teammate Sheila Johnson, also a junior, won the 400 (1:02.73) and high jump (5-0) for the Mustangs.
Holmen freshman Courtney Simmons won the 100 (13.17), and Holmen senior Sabrina Lechnir the 3,200 (10:51.6).

Luther also received individual wins from sophomore Jaeyda Livingston in the 100 hurdles (16.57) and junior Isabel Mueller in the pole vault (9-6).

Aquinas won the 400 (53.04) and 800 (1:53.24) relays, and sophomore Eliot McKnight was the top finisher in the discus (130-7).

Prairie Relays

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — Central’s girls placed third with 73.5 points and Onalaska’s 11th with 25, while Central’s boys were sixth (63) and Onalaska’s 12th (11).

Junior Anthony Jones led the Central boys with victories in the high jump (6-2) and triple jump (41.5.5). Junior Griffin Rudie was second in the 400 (52.99) and junior Gabe Servais was second in the 300 hurdles (45.37).

The RiverHawks also were second in the boys 800 relay (1:34.56).

Senior Rickie Tillotson won the triple jump (34-2.5) and placed third in the long jump (15-8.25) for the Onalaska girls.

Sophomore Charlotte Yard won the 3,200 (12:35.83) for Central’s girls, who also won the 3,200 relay (10:38.91).

The RiverHawks also received second-place finishes from junior Makaylie Kloss in the 100 (13.07) and junior Harper Solverson in the discus (98-7) and a third place from senior Maggie Mach in the 3,200 (13:12.62).
