VIROQUA — The Coulee Region co-op girls hockey team went to overtime by came away with a 5-4 victory over Viroqua on Tuesday.
The co-op (3-11-1) won its first game since Jan. 6 when Samara Collins, a senior from Holmen, scored with an assist from Bangor senior Brooke Borkenhagen 4:16 into overtime.
The Cyclones forced overtime with three goals in the third period.
Coulee Region trailed 4-1 before Julia Hendrickson scored with assists from Borkenhagen and Ava Ferguson at 1:54. Ellie Hoehn then scored on a power play with assists from Borkenhagen and Rylee Hoehn at 3:58, and Raegan Domach tied things up with an assist from Maycee Marson at 15:51.
Borkenhagen scored Coulee Region’s first goal in the first period with assists from Domack and Emily Napiecek.
Freshman Aria Chamberland played more than 33 minutes in goal for the Cyclones and stopped 16 shots without allowing a goal.

Avalanche 8, Black River Falls 3
ONALASKA — The Avalanche (9-9, 4-2 Western Wisconsin Hockey Conference) won for the second time in three games by beating the Tigers at the OmniCenter.
Holmen/Aquinas broke away from a 1-1 game by scoring four goals in the second period and added three more in the third while outshooting Black River Falls 43-30.
Jack Barth, a senior from Holmen, had two goals and two assists for the Avalanche. James Siegert, a sophomore from Aquinas, had one goal and three assists for his team. Ayden Dirks, a senior from Holmen, also had one goal and three assists.
Mikah Vail and Luke Boberg each had one goal and one assists for the co-op.
Liam Collins, a sophomore from Holmen, made 27 saves in goal for the Avalanche.
