LA CROSSE — The Central High School girls basketball team used another big game from senior Alahnna Simpson to score a 65-37 nonconference victory over Marshfield at the Mark Sutton Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Simpson scored 21 points and had nine rebounds and six steals for the RiverHawks (2-0), who played their home opener. Simpson made 7 of 16 shots for Central, which is ranked ninth in Division 2 in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll and opened its season with a win at West Salem.
Senior Emmerson Keeney added 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting, and freshman Ellie Apuan scored nine and had seven rebounds and seven of her team’s 23 steals.
Junior Ellie Gllitzer had seven points and five steals for Central.
Holmen 68, Eau Claire North 62
HOLMEN — Senior Macy Kline scored 14 of her team-high 20 points in the second half for the Vikings (2-1).
Holmen outscored North by nine points in the second half after the Huskies claimed a 29-26 halftime lead.
Sophomore Makenzie Nunemacher added 18 points and sophomore Aspyn Archer nine and senior Charley Casey eight for the Vikings. Nunemacher scored 11 of her points after halftime.
Aquinas 66, Bangor 30
LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (3-1), ranked ninth in Division 3 by state media, picked up their third straight win as four players scored in double figures at the Reinhart Athletic Complex.
Senior Sammy Davis had 14 points — 12 in the second half — to go with five rebounds and five assists for Aquinas, which led 27-18 at halftime and pulled away from there.
Junior Eve Willenbring made four of the Blugolds’ nine 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 16 points. She had 10 of those in the first half and made two 3s in each half and added four assists and four steals to her stat line.
Senior Alaina Elias and junior Addy Bezemek each added 11 points, with Bezemek knocking down three second-half 3-pointers. Elias also had six steals.
Onalaska Luther 67, Tomah 52
TOMAH — The Knights (2-1) won their second game in a row and led the Timberwolves by 12 points after one half.
Luther had eight players score between five and 12 points for a balanced victory.
Junior Sienna Kreidermacher made one 3pointer in each half and scored a team-high 12 points for the Knights, who led 34-22 at halftime.
Sophomores Brinley Schmitz and Tessa Gloede each scored 10 points, and sophomore Jaedya Livingston made two 3-pointers on her way to nine for Luther, which has followed up a loss to Onalaska with wins over Bangor and Tomah.
Arcadia 54, Logan 38
LA CROSSE — The Rangers (0-3) struggled offensively against the Raiders at the Steve Hole Field House.
Senior Lydia Mason scored a team-high nine points for Logan, which scored just 15 points in the first half. Junior Lilly Dettwiler added eight points and senior Kenna Streeck seven for the Rangers.
