LA CROSSE — West Salem High School junior Jonathon Gehrke continued a dominant run through the ski season by winning two more slalom races in a Western Conference event at Mt. La Crosse on Wednesday.
Gehrke has won every boys slalom and giant slalom race this season and posted victories for the winning Aquinas co-op team with a time of 20.5 seconds before dropping that to 20.16 in the second.
The co-op, which also includes Onalaska, West Salem and Luther, won the first race with a team score of 15 points and the second with a 19.
Central sophomores Cole Hasburgh and Keya Lee were second in the two races for the Central/Logan co-op. Haburgh was runner-up in the first race at 21.94, and Lee had a runner-up time of 22.08 in the second.
West Salem freshman Peyton Oelfke as third in the first race (22.74) and Central sophomore Ty Ericksmoen third in the second race (22.74).
Northern’s Alyssa Raven, a junior from Hudson, was also a double winner with victories in the girls ski races.
Raven crossed the line in 21.0 and 21.31 seconds for her victories. She helped Northern won both races a team with scores of 12 and 13. WOWSL was second in both with a 37 and a 38.
Brynn Grabowski, a junior from Aquinas, was second in the second race (22.12) and third in the first (22.78).
The boys and girls snowboard races were split, but AOWSL on both girls competitions as a team with eight points in the first and nine in the second.
London Vandenhorst, a senior from West Salem, won the first at 27.54) and was runner-up in the second at 28.02.
Ava Connaughty, a sophomore from Central, won the second race (27.96) and was runner-up in the first (29.39), and Jacee Erickson — a Luther senior — was third in both at 30.23 and 30.63.
The Central/Logan boys team won both snowboard races with nine points.
Wesley Olson, a Central senior, and Maxwell Willis, a Logan junior, were first and second in the second race with times of 29.62 and 30.97.
AOWSL’s Ryan Nummerdor Robles, a junior from Onalaska, won the first race in 29.88. Charles Head, a Central senior, was second in 30.29. Olson also had a third-place finish (30.42) as did Aquinas sophomore Braxton Wiczik (32.44).
