HOLMEN — The Holmen High School ASL floor hockey team opened its season with a 4-1 victory over West Salem/Bangor at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Monday.
The Vikings scored the final three goals after freshman Sylvia Bath — playing in her first ASL game — tied the game at 1 in the first period.
Senior Aiden Romskog broke that tie in the second period, and junior teammate Kian Carlisle followed it up quickly with another for a 3-1 Holmen lead that stood into the third period.
Carlisle scored again in the third to give himself a hat trick. He also gave Holmen a 1-0 lead in the first.
Senior Carter Van Lin played in goal for the Vikings and shut the Panthers out for two of the three periods.. The defense in front of him made it difficult for West Salem/Bangor to find good opportunities.
Coaches for both teams expressed excitement for the performance they received in the first game of the season and are encouraged about what’s to come.
