LA CROSSE — The Aquinas co-op ski and snowboard boys teams enjoyed a big first day of competition Wednesday at Mount La Crosse.
The co-op, which also includes Onalaska, West Salem and Onalaska Luther, won four of six boys ski and snowboard races over Central/Logan/Providence Academy/Tomah as the season kicked off.
Jonathon Gehrke, a junior from West Salem won all three of the Giant Slalom races in the boys ski competition with times of 17.26 seconds in the first, 17.36 in the second and 17.16 in the third.
CLPT’s Cole Hasburgh was second in all three with times of 17.64, 17.88 and 17.91, and teammate Keya Lee was third in the first two by crossing the line at 17.94 and 18.05. AOWSL’s Jackson Dahl was third in the final race at 18.26.
AOWSL scored 16 points in the first two races and 15 in the third, while CLPT had 22 in the first,38 in the second and 24 in the third.
CLPT’s boys won two of the three snowboard races, scoring nine points in the first and 10 in the third. AOWSL scored 10 to win the second race as a team.
AOWSL’s Ryan Nummerdor Robles was the overall winner in the second and third races with times of 26.88 and 25.9. He was also second in the first race with a 27.15.
CLPT’s Wesley Olson won the first race in 26.5 and placed second in the next two at 27.53 and 26.61, respectively. CLPT’s Charles Head recorded two third-place finishes (28.26 and 27.26) and AOWSL’s Braxton Wiczek one (27.78).
The Northern team won two of the three girls ski races, and AOWSL the other.
Alyssa Raven, representing the Northern team, was the individual winner all three times with Giant Slalom times of 17.76, 17.68 and 17.89.
Teammate Julia McBride was second twice (18.05 and 18.09) and third (18.14) once. Northern’s Emelia Berg was second (18.04) once and third (18.1) once, while AOWSL’s Brynn Grabowski recorded one third-place finish (18.37).
AOWSL won all three girls snowboard races with eight points in each of them.
London Vanderhorst on the first race in 23.82, the second in 25.13 and the third in 24.78.
CLPT’s Ava Connaughty was second in all three at 26.12, 25.52 and 25.33, respectively.
AOWSL’s Jacee Erickson was third in all three with times of 27.43, 27.64 and 26.19.
