Tuesday girls basketball: Caledonia, Aquinas, Holmen win conference matchups

CALEDONIA — Senior Aubrie Klug erupted for 39 points to help the Caledonia High School girls basketball team beat P-E-M 81-54 in a Three Rivers Conference game on Tuesday,

Klug made nine 3-pointers and helped the Warriors (9-3, 5-0) stay unbeaten in the East Division after building a 39-23 halftime lead. Klug is averaging 25.4 points per game after the performance.

Junior Jessica Stendel added 19 points and made a pair of 3-pointers, and senior Kensey King added seven points for Caledonia, which has followed up a two-game losing streak with two straight victories heading into Thursday’s game at St. Charles (3-7).

Aquinas 91, Tomah 22

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (11-1, 4-0 MVC) won their 118th straight conference game and held the Timberwolves to 12 points in the first half and 10 in the second.

Senior Sammy Davis finished with a game-high 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting, and senior Maddie Grossbach added 13 points and eight rebounds as 11 Aquinas players scored.

Senior Alaina Elias had 12 points, six steals and three assists, junior Liv Dickinson added 10 points, and junior Eva Willenbring added eight points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

Junior Ava Fernholz had six points and six assists for the Blugolds, who next play at Logan (2-7, 0-2) on Friday.

Holmen 46, Sparta 36

HOLMEN — The Vikings (7-3, 1-2 MVC) ran their winning streak to four games and picked up their first conference win of the season.

Senior Macy Kline scored a team-high 12 points, and senior Charley Casey added 11. Sophomore Aspyn Archer also scored 10 points for Holmen, which plays at Onalaska (8-3, 1-1) on Friday.

The Vikings built a 31-17 lead in the first half before the Spartans were able to cut into their deficit in the second.
