A pair of one-sided victories last week has the Onalaska High School boys basketball team moving up the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll this week.

The Hilltoppers (3-0), who hosts DeForest (4-0) in a nonconference game Tuesday night, jumped two spots to No. 2 in Division 2 for the rankings released Monday. Onalaska beat Logan 89-56 and Medford 86-46 to spark the rise.

Onalaska trails No. 1 Slinger (3-1), which has only been beaten by Division 1 No. 1 Wisconsin Lutheran. Wauwatosa West, Mount Horeb and Nicolet are ranked third, fourth and fifth in Division 2, respectively.

The Aquinas boys and girls and Central girls are also ranked this week as they’ve been all season.

The Aquinas boys (2-0) slipped from No 5 to No. 6 this week in Division 3, which is led by Racine St. Catherine’s (3-0). Freedom, Racine Lutheran, Oostburg and Seymour check in between the Angels and Blugolds.

Aquinas plays at La Crescent-Hokah on Tuesday, then hosts second-ranked Onalaska in an MVC showdown Saturday night at the Reinhart Athletic Complex.

The Central girls (4-0) remained at No. 6 in Division 2, and the Aquinas girls (6-1) stuck in the No. 8 spot in Division 3.

The RiverHawks host Sparta on Friday and are coming off a 59-26 win over Holmen. Milwaukee Pius XI and Beaver Dam hold the top two spots in Division 2, and they are followed by Rice Lake, Appleton Xavier and Whitefish Bay.

The Blugolds have won six straight games since a season-opening loss to Division 3 second-ranked Kettle Moraine. Aquinas next plays at Onalaska on Thursday.

Oostburg holds the top spot in Division 3 and is followed by Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Edgerton, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Wisconsin Dells, Winneconne and Platteville.
