ONALASKA — The Onalaska/La Crosse co-op boys hockey team played its first Western Wisconsin Hockey Conference game on Friday and emerged with its perfect record intact.
The Hilltoppers scored four goals in the second period to set themselves up for a 6-2 victory over Tomah/Sparta at the OmniCenter.
Onalaska/La Crosse improved its record to 3-0 overall, 1-0 in the WWHC and handed Tomah/Sparta (3-1, 0-1) its first loss of the season.
Senior Jackson Egan scored three goals and assisted on another for the Hilltoppers, who held a 30-16 advantage in shots.
Egan scored unassisted in the first period and added two more goals in the second. The first came on a power play with assists from Grayson Andel and Logan Sauter, while the second came at even strength with an assist from Liam Branson for a 4-1 lead.
Sauter, Korbin Neher and Zach Marso also scored goals for Onalaska/La Crosse. Neher added an assist, and Parker Tripp had 14 saves in goal for the Hilltoppers, who play the Avalanche (2-2, 1-0) at the OmniCenter on Tuesday.
