ONALASKA — The Holmen/Aquinas co-op boys hockey team scored once early in the second period, but Winona came back to score two more times and secure a 3-1 nonconference victory at the OmniCenter on Tuesday.
The Avalanche (1-1) lost for the first time this season and entered the second period trailing 1-0 after the Winhawks outshot them 13-5 in the first.
But Holmen senior Jack Barth tied the score at 1 with an unassisted goal at the 4:45 mark of the second. Jack Jerowski then scored 2 minutes later, and Brennan Hines added another goal before the end of the second to give Winona control. Barth’s goal is his first of the season.
Holmen sophomore Liam Collins played in goal for the Avalanche and finished with 38 saves. He has allowed five goals in 102 minutes this season.
