WINONA — Eight players scored for the Holmen High School girls basketball team as it defeated Winona 55-32 for a nonconference victory in coach Lionel Jones’ first game on Thursday.
Senior Charley Casey scored a team-high 14 points or the Vikings, who had three scorers reach double figures.
Sophomore Aspyn Archer made two of Holmen’s five 3-pointers to finish with 12 points, and sophomore Reese Tierney made two 3s on her way to 10 points for the Vikings, who host Eau Claire Memorial on Tuesday.
Onalaska 47, Onalaska Luther 39
ONALASKA — The Hilltoppers outscored the visiting Knights by eight points in the second half to start their season with a win.
Sophomore Kayla Ketelhut scored a team-high 15 points for Onalaska, which also received 11 pints and 10 rebounds from junior Natalie Marso. Ketelhut scored 11 of her points in the first half and Marso nine of hers in the second.
Junior Lauren Pica knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and added 10 points for the Hilltoppers.
Luther was led by sophomore Jayda Livingston’s 13 points. She made two 3-pointers and scored 10 of those points before halftime. Sophomore Cara Unke added eight points — all in the second half.
