High school football: Aquinas, Holmen, West Salem, Central, Arcadia and De Soto land players on WFCA All-Region teams

Will Flottmeyer and Jagger Jepson had a lot to do with the Aquinas and Holmen high school football teams winning the Coulee Conference and MVC championships this fall.

Flottmeyer was dominant on both sides of the ball for the Blugolds and Jepson for the Vikings as the teams combined to win 19 games and lose three.

Their contributions as offensive and defensive linemen were recognized this week when the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association released its All-Region teams.

Flottmeyer earned a spot at each position in the Region 1 Small Division voting, and Jepson did the same in the Region 1 Large Division voting.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Flottmeyer, who will play at the University of North Dakota next season, was in on 48 tackles and made 16 stops behind the line of scrimmage to go with 5.5 sacks. He also helped the Blugolds (11-1) average 308 yards and 35.3 points per game.

Jepson, a 6-1, 280-pounder, keyed a Holmen (9-2) offense that scored more than 40 points on five occasions and averaged 253.2 rushing yards per game. He made 22 solo tackles, had 6 TFLs and 2.5 sacks.
Aquinas and Holmen had four players each selected All-Region.

Senior wide receiver Logan Becker, senior inside linebacker Tyson Martin and senior defensive back Brady Lee were also recognized for the Blugolds.

Becker had 35 catches for 585 yards and seven touchdowns, Martin had 10 TFL and 2.5 sacks, and Lee had 19 solo tackles and an interception to go with seven rushing and receiving touchdowns.

The Vikings are also represented by senior running back Jack Barth, senior defensive lineman Tristen Brennan and junior inside linebacker Mason Flury.

Brennan had 27 solo tackles with six for loss and 2.5 sacks, and Flury led Holmen with 97 total tackles — 69 solo and 16 for loss. Flury also recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass.

West Salem (8-3), which placed second in the Coulee Conference, has three All-Region selections in junior offensive lineman Luke Grube, senior defensive end Landon Michlig and senior outside linebacker Bennett Fennigkoh.

Grube led an offensive line that helped produce 305.4 total yards and 36 points per game. The Panthers averaged 181 rushing yards and rushed for 36 touchdowns over 11 games.

Michlig led West Salem in both tackles for loss (20) and sacks (4). He also forced four fumbles, recovered two and ran one back for a touchdown in addition to intercepting a pass.

Fennigkoh was in on 52 total tackles and made 10 stops behind the line of scrimmage. He had 1.5 sacks, forced three fumbles, recovered two and intercepted a pass.

Central is represented by senior quarterback Christian Rudrud and junior defensive back Gabe Servais.

Rudrud had a monster season for the RiverHawks (7-4), who shared the MVC title with Holmen. He rushed for 1,698 yards and 25 touchdowns and completed 65.2 percent of his passes for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. Rudrud was also part of 56 tackles — 12 for loss as a linebacker.
