TOMAH — The Holmen High School volleyball team won the outright MVC championship with a 25-18, 25-22, 25-12 victory over host Tomah on Tuesday.
The Vikings (28-0 overall, 10-0 MVC) moved three losses ahead of second-place and idle Onalaska (17-8, 6-3) with two remaining and ran their conference winning streak to 13 matches by completing a regular-season sweep of the Timberwolves.
Senior Charley Casey had a team-high 14 kills, and senior Brenna Schmidt added 13. Junior Moira Linse and senior Hadley Teff each added eight.
Senior Macy Kline had a team-high 19 digs and senior Makenna McHugh a team-high 22 assists for Holmen, which is ranked sixth in Division 1 by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association.
West Salem 3, Viroqua 1
WEST SALEM — The first-place Panthers (17-5, 7-1) beat the third-place Blackhawks (23-4, 6-3) 25-12, 26-24, 20-25, 25-13.
Senior Josie Brudos had a team-high seven kills for West Salem, which also received six from junior Addy Oldenburg and five from freshman Kensley Skifton, who also had six blocks.
Senior Addy Jehn had 18 digs and Brudos 13 to go with four aces. Sophomore Brooklyn Ghelfi recorded a team-high 18 assists as West Salem won its sixth conference match in a row and leads second-place Onalaska Luther (7-2) in the standings.
Central 3, Logan 0
LA CROSSE — The RiverHawks (13-12, 5-5) beat the Rangers (3-11, 0-9) 25-23, 25-16, 25-14 at the Mark Sutton Memorial Gymnasium for an MVC victory.
Senior Mady Young had nine kills, 10 digs and four service aces for Central, which snapped a two-match losing streak and completed a regular-season sweep of Logan.
Junior Ellie Gillitzer had eight kills and a team-high 20 assists, and senior Gabbi Zeeb led the RiverHawks with 23 digs.
The Rangers were led by junior Norah Keller’s 18 assists and four digs and junior Meredith Zellner’s three kills and four blocks.
Melrose-Mindoro 3, Osseo-Fairchild 0
MELROSE — The Mustangs (6-12, 3-4) beat the Thunder 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 to keep them winless in the Dairyland Conference.
Senior Cooper Zeman was a string finisher at the net with a team-high 14 kills and added 11 digs, while junior Bella Rozek had 11 kills and five service aces.
Senior Opal Buchanan had a team-high 19 assists and 11 digs and senior Anna Radcliffe a team-high 13 digs.
Aquinas 3, Sparta 2
LA CROSSE — The third-place Blugolds (12-14, 6-4) beat the Spartans 25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 16-14 in an MVC match at the Reinhart Athletic Complex.
Seniors Alaina Elias and Sammy Davis combined for 45 kills, and Elias had 23 of them. Davis also had 19 digs, three blocks and an ace.
Junior Adi Bezemek had 40 assists, 15 digs and one ace, and junior Aubrey Coyne had a team-high 33 digs and an ace.
