WEST SALEM — The Aquinas High School girls cross country team placed second and Central’s third in the Dick Mitchell Invitational at Maple Grove Venues on Saturday.
West Salem was fourth and Logan sixth in a meet won by Westby with a team score of 34.
The Blugolds ran to a score of 68 with two runners among the top eight and the RiverHawks to a 77 with two in the top 12.
Junior Emily Bagniefski as runner-up to Westby’s Elizabeth Curtis with a time of 20 minutes, 14.5 seconds to lead the Blugolds. Curtis crossed the finish line in 19:23. Sophomore Sanjana Musafir added an eighth-place finish for Aquinas with a time of 21:52.2.
Sophomore Charlotte Yard was Central’s top finisher at third place with a time of 21:00.7. Sophomore Kaylyn Torkelson as 12th in 22:03.4.
Logan junior Kareena Ramakrishnan and West Salem freshman Nora Johnson also recorded top-10 finishes with Ramakrishnan sixth (221:28.2) and Johnson ninth (21:55).
Bagniefski and Musafir were joined by junior Helen Onyeabor (13th,22:15.3), senior Madelyn Grossbach (20th, 22:58.3) and senior Bethany Hale (25th, 23:26) as scoring runners for Aquinas.
Junior Brynn Bosshard (16th, 22:39.5), freshman Clara Jantz (22nd, 23″04.7) and junior Minna Crusan (24th, 23″24.7) also scored for Central, and Johnson was joined in a scoring lineup by sophomore Anna Witte (14th, 22:57.1), junior Sam MacRogers (15th, 22:35.1) and freshmen Natalie Minard (21st, 23:00.7) and Taylor Buisman (27th, 23:44.4) on the way to a team score of 86.
The Rangers had a team score of 157, and Ramakrishnan was joined by juniors Natalie Pedretti (34th, 25:38.8) and Marlee Stevemer (38th,27:21.2), sophomore Rachel Sward (39th, 29:52.6) and freshman Olivia Peirce (40th, 20:26.7) in the performance.
Arcadia had two runners compete. Freshman Samantha Bustos-Sandoval was 58th (31:12.1) and sophomore Shannon Cruz 61st (34:16.5).
Evan Kratochwill Invitational
MIDDLETON — Holmen won the championship in a field of five teams and had four of the top 10 finishers on the way to a team score of 41.
The Vikings clipped second-place Middleton (42) by a point to win.
Senior Sabrina Lechnir was the top performer with a second-place finish and time of 19:25.5.
Senior Naomi Wedan was sixth (20:26.6), sophomore Ruby Kinsman seventh (20:33), sophomore Jolee Valiska 10th (21:08.6) and freshman Claire Wagoner 16th (21:51.1).
