SPARTA — The Holmen High School boys soccer team ran its MVC winning streak to three games with an 8-0 victory at Sparta on Thursday.
The Vikings (7-5-1 overall, 7-1 MVC) scored three goals in the first half and five in the second to finish the Spartans and follow up wins over Logan and Onalaska with an easy victory.
Braylan Welch scored three goals and added an assist to lead Holmen’s offense, which scored eight goals for the second time this season.
Chale Yang, Brock Needham also scored in the first half for the 3-0 halftime lead. Jacob Simmons, Triston Gomez and Aaron Potaracke added to Welch’s two goals in the second half for the final margin of victory.
Gomez, Needham, Charlie Mackeben, Apollo de la Rosa and Tyler Anibas assisted on goals for the Vikings.
West Salem 2, Onalaska 0
ONALASKA — The Panthers (7-5-1, 5-3) scored once in each half to beat the Hilltoppers (4-6-5, 3-2-3).
Emerick Weeks scored for West Salem in the first half, and Sam Adams scored the second-half goal.
Aquinas 0, Central 0
LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (6-6-1, 2-5-1) and RiverHawks (3-7-3, 2-4-2) played to a scoreless tie at Fields for Kids.
Cameron Reinhart had seven saves for Aquinas.
