Thursday cross country/girls golf report: Arcadia second by one shot in Coulee meet at Ettrick

ETTRICK — The Arcadia High School girls golf team shot a 202 and was one strike behind champion Black River Falls in a Coulee Conference meet at Ettrick Golf Club on Thursday.

The Raiders had three golfers place among the top five and were led by junior Sacia Boland, whose round of 12-over-par 48 was good for third place individually.

Juniors Kalyce Sobotta and Amaya Schlesser both shots 50s and tied for fifth place, while freshman Abigail Slaby added a 62 to complete Arcadia’s team scorecard.

Westby/Viroqua’s Maddi Fletcher was medalist with two birdies and a 38 on the front nine.

BOSCOBEL — The Aquinas girls were fifth and Central’s seventh in a 23-team competition, and the Blugolds placed eighth and the RiverHawks 10th among 21 teams in the boys competition.

Emily Bagniefski had the best local girls finish with a 12-place performance and time of 19 minutes, 35.5 seconds in the girls race. Teammate Sanjana Musafir finished right behind her in 13th place at 19:38.8.

Alexa Myre (21:05) was also 36th for Aquinas, while Helen Onyeabor was 53rd (21:44.3) and Madelyn Grossbach 55th (21:44.9).

Charlotte Yard was Central’s top runner with a time of 20:10.1 that was good for 17th place. Brynn Bosshard (56th, 21:49.7), Mae Medinger (65th, 22:01), Clara Jantz (70th, 22:12.8) and Chloe Wynn (22:22.7) also scored for the RiverHawks.

Kalen Azene had the best overall finish among area runners and was sixth in the boys race for Aquinas with a time of 16:46.9.

Oliver Buck (29th, 17:45.1), Nolan Vandenlangenberg (50th, 18:15.7), Alexander Boland (95th, 19:37.7 and Spencer Buck (96th, 19:38.1) also scored for the Blugolds.

The RiverHawks were led by Jacob Fresia, who was 31st in 17:48.8.

Central also received scoring runs from Lyndon Torkelson (48th, 18:10.1), Sean Erickson (56th, 18:42.2), Wesley Olson (79th, 19:16.5) and Ryan Wilder (83rd, 19:24.5).
