Tuesday volleyball report: Aquinas fights off Central for third straight MVC win

LA CROSSE — The Aquinas High School volleyball team went to five sets before finishing off a 25-20, 24-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-10 MVC victory over Central at the Reinhart Athletic Complex on Tuesday.

The Blugolds (7-10, 3-2) pushed their conference record over the .500 mark after a big night at the net by seniors Sammy Davis and Alaina Elias. Davis finished with 22 kills and Elias 15 as Aquinas won its third consecutive conference match and moved ahead of the RiverHawks (9-8, 3-3) in the standings.

Junior Aubrey Coyne had a team-high 29 digs for the Blugolds, but Davis added 23 and junior Adi Bezemek 15 to go with her team-high 48 assists.

Central was led by junior Mady Young’s 13 kills and 26 digs.

Junior Ellie Gillitzer had 28 assists, 23 digs and nine kills for the RiverHawks, who also received 10 kills and four blocks from junior Ella Crawford.

Onalaska 3, Logan 0

LA CROSSE — The Hilltoppers (10-7, 2-3) handed the Rangers (3-7, 0-5) a 25-13, 25-21, 25-22 loss at the Steve Hole Field House.

Junior Natalie Marso had eight kills and senior Isabella Malecek seven to go with three blocks for Onalaska, which also received 17 assists from freshman Bella Erickson, 14 digs from sophomore Mckenzie Bauer and nine digs and four service aces from sophomore Kayla Ketelhut.

Senior Kaia Depaolo had 11 kills and six digs for Logan. Senior Alysha Hughes had 12 assists and four digs, junior Norah Keller 10 assists and five services aces and junior Adelaide Sprain 10 digs for the Rangers.

West Salem 3, Onalaska Luther 1

ONALASKA — The Panthers (6-5, 3-1) beat the Knights (8-3, 3-2) for their second straight conference victory since a loss at Westby.

Senior Josie Brudos had 12 kills and 14 digs for West Salem. Senior Natalee Reichert added 11 kills and 13 digs, senior AJ Jehn 27 assists and freshman Kensley Skifton six blocks for the Panthers.

Caledonia 3, Winona Cotter 1

CALEDONIA — The third-ranked Warriors (11-1, 5-0) remained unbeaten in the Three Rivers with a 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 win over the ninth-ranked Ramblers.

Senior Kensey King had team highs with 16 kills and five blocks for Caledonia, which won its fifth straight match.

Senior Aubrie Klug had 44 digs to lead five Warriors in double figures. Junior Paizley Lange added 18 to go with four aces, freshman Ashlyn Reinhart 13 to go with eight kills, junior Elsa Blum 11 with seven kills and junior Avery Augedahl 10. Augedahl also had 34 assists.
