LA CROSSE — The Logan High School ASL soccer team kicked off its season with a 7-1 victory over visiting Central on Monday.
Coaches said the Rangers played well defensively and didn’t allow a goal in the closing minutes.
Davante Atwell, Neveah Dyon, Samantha Dawson, Jansen Schneider and Dylan Slabaugh all scored goals for Logan, which hosts West Salem on Thursday.
Junior Thomas Spah, who highlighted the game for his team through spirit and hustle, scored the goal for the RiverHawks with one of his powerful shots.
Senior Mara Peterson created seven scoring opportunities and used her leadership to keep the Central offense on its attack, while Dominic Dolan, Josh Haas and Kody Braun each took turns gaining experience in goal.
West Salem 9, Onalaska 3
ONALASKA — Levi Wulf and Cam Arndt scored two goals apiece, and teammates Bri Smith, Eli Greil, David Chandler, Tryton Gilberson and Luci Bakke all scored once for the Panthers as they opened the season with a victory.
Wulf and Dallas Fitzsimmons played in goal for West Salem, and Wulf finished with 15 saves.
West Salem coaches were happy with the start and will try to build on it when playing at Logan on Thursday.
