Thursday volleyball report: Caledonia extends season-opening win streak

CALEDONIA — The Caledonia High School volleyball team took care of La Crescent-Hokah in three sets to improve its record to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Three Rivers Conference on Thursday.

Freshman outside hitter Ashlyn Reinhart had a team-high 10 kills in a 25-10, 25-16, 25-10 victory over the Lancers. Reinhart also had 7 digs.

Senior Aubrie Klug had a team-high 22 digs and senior Kensey King 9 kills to go with a team-high 4.5 blocks.

Junior Adrienne Lange added 7 kills and 2.5 blocks for Caledonia, which also received 28 assists from junior Avery Augedahl.

Westby 3, West Salem 2

WEST SALEM — The Panthers had their 27-match Coulee Conference winning streak get snapped.

The Norsemen, who were the last team to beat the Panthers during the 2022 season, held on in five sets for a 14-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 15-11 victory.

Westby (3-5, 1-0) received 13 kills from Ava Berg in the victory.

Senior Josie Brudos had 17 kills to lead West Salem (4-4, 1-1), which also received 13 kills and 11 digs from senior Natalee Reichert and 25 assists from senior AJ Jehn.

Onalaska Luther 3, Black River Falls 0

ONALASKA — The Knights (2-0, 1-0) opened their conference season with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-12 over the visiting Tigers.

Senior Kayla Schiebel had a team-high 15 kills and 4 blocks for Luther, which also received 31 assists and 8 digs from junior Addie Schaper. Sophomore Audrey Clark had 9 kills for the Knights.

Holmen 3, Central 1

LA CROSSE — The Vikings (10-0, 3-0) handed the RiverHawks (6-4, 1-2) a 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17 defeat at the Mark Sutton Memorial Gymnasium.

Senior Charley Casey had 13 kills and 6 digs for Holmen, while senior teammate Sadie Mayer added 21 assists, 8 digs and 4 service aces and senior teammate Macy Kline 20 digs.

Junior Ellie Gillitzer led Central with 21 digs and 20 assists, while junior McKenna Michaels added 9 kills and 8 digs. Junior Celia Christopherson had 23 digs and senior Sylvia Rauch 8 kills.

Aquinas 3, Logan 1

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (3-7, 1-2) celebrated 1,000 career digs for senior Sammy Davis and beat the pesky Rangers 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 at the Reinhart Athletic Complex for their first conference win of the season.

Davis celebrated her night with 19 kills, 11 digs, 3 service aces and 2 blocks. Junior Adelaide Bezenek had 36 assists to go with 8 digs and 6 blocks and junior Aubrey Coyne pitched in with 15 digs and 3 aces.
Sophomore Ava Kujak had 5 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks for Aquinas.

Logan (0-2 MVC) was led by 14 kills, 13 digs and 2 blocks from senior Kaia Depaolo. Junior Lilly Dettwiler chipped in with 12 kills, junior Norah Keller with 18 assists and junior Adelaide Sprain with 14 digs. Senior Lydia Mason also had 7 kills and junior Emma Bacon 8 digs.

Tomah 3, Onalaska 0

TOMAH — The Timberwolves (2-0 MVC) pulled out a 25-14, 25-16, 25-13 victory over the Hilltoppers (7-3, 1-2).

Junior Kendall Carlson had six kills and two blocks, freshman Bella Eckstein 14 assists and freshman Zayda Lawrence 12 digs and two aces for Onalaska.
