Wednesday volleyball/girls golf report: Central wins 3 of 4 matches, Onalaska 2nd at Hiawatha

ONALASKA — The Central High School volleyball team bounced back from losing its first MVC match of the season by winning three of four matches at the OmniCenter on Wednesday.

The RiverHawks beat Black River Falls 25-16, 25-18 and Hillsboro 25-19, 25-23 before losing to Webster 27-25, 25-21 and closing out the first day of the Onalaska Invitational with a 25-8, 25-14 victory over Boscobel.

Junior McKenna Michaels had a team-high 29 kills, and junior Ellie Gillitzer had 12 kills and 29 digs to go with 77 assists.

Junior Mady Young added 15 kills and 36 digs and senior Gabbi Zeeb 28 digs for Central (3-2).

MVC meet

TOMAH — Onalaska was the top local team in the second conference meet of the season with a second-place finish at Hiawatha Golf Club.
The Hilltoppers shot a 347 and have placed second to Tomah in both conference meets. The Timberwolves shot a 333 on Wednesday.
Onalaska was led by seniors Sydney Kranig and Rickie Tillotson, who shot 8-over-par 80 and 13-over 85.
Kranig had a pair of birdies — No. 4 and No. 9 — on her card and tied for second place overall.
Tillotson was fourth and held off Aquinas senior Molly Swift, who shot an 86 and finished fifth.
Holmen was third (404), Aquinas fourth (413) and Central/Logan fifth (444).
Sophomore Finley Schams shot an 88 and senior Brooklynn Williams a 94 for the Hilltoppers, and junior Emily Napiecek shot a 95 to lead the Vikings.
Holmen also received scoring rounds from sophomore Kaylee Banse (99), freshman Serene Mather (101) and senior Teagan Nelson (109).
Senior Lucy Reyerson shot a 102, junior Gabriella Stratman a 105 and freshman Mirachelle Wall a 121 to back up Swift for the Blugolds.
Central/Logan was led by senior Elena Wagner’s 95 and received a 114 from senior Jaymeson Buxton, a 115 from senior Alayna Berra and a 120 from sophomore Sofia Cedergren.
