TOMAH — The Onalaska High School girls golf team began its season with a third-place finish during the Tomah Tune-Up at the Hiawatha Golf Club on Monday.
The Hilltoppers finished with a team score of 366 and were third in a field of 20 teams. But second-place River Falls (359) and Onalaska were distant challengers to champion Tomah (337).
Aquinas was sixth at 393 and led by senior Molly Swift, whose 10-over-par 82 was third individually. Swift shot a 4-over 40 on the front and a 6-over 42 on the back and highlighted her round with a birdie at No. 10.
The Hilltoppers had two players place in a tie for sixth or better and were led by fourth-place senior Rickie Tillotson and her round of 85. Sophomore Finley Schams added an 87 and was part of a four-way tie for sixth place.
Junior Becka Mohr placed 20th for Onalaska with a 95, and senior teammates Sydney Kranig and Brooklynn Williams shot 99s.
Aquinas also received scoring rounds from senior Lucy Reyerson (a personal-best 97), junior Gabriella Stratman (106) and senior Hayden Zehren (108).
Holmen placed 12th with a 423 and was led by sophomore Kaylee Banse’s 98, freshman Serene Mather’s 104 and junior Emily Napiecek’s 105.
The Central/Logan co-op was 17th with a score of 471 and led by senior Jaymeson Buxton’s 106. Senior teammate Elena Wagner added a 111.
