ONALASKA — The second-seeded Onalaska High School girls soccer team advanced to a WIAA Division 2 regional championship game with an 8-0 semifinal victory over visiting Sparta on Tuesday.

The Hilltoppers (11-5-1) qualified to host third-seeded Holmen (10-7-1) in a regional final at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Senior Natalie Tevis scored three goals — the first on a header off a corner kick from senior Mallory Meighan — during a big offensive game and defensive performance that allowed the Spartans one shot on goal.

Junior Isabella Cromheecke had two goals and one assist, and sophomore Finley Walters had one goal and one assist for Onalaska, which has won two if its past three games.

The Hilltoppers split two games with Holmen during the regular season. They beat the Vikings 2-0 on April 22 before Holmen handed them a 5-1 defeat on May 22.

Freshmen Ellie Thesing and McKenna Alderman also scored one goal apiece for the Hilltoppers, who received assists from sophomore Francesca Vriens and junior Miren Gondra.

Freshman Avery Cowley posted the shutout in goal for Onalaska.

Holmen 3, Tomah 0

HOLMEN — The third-seeded Vikings (10-7-1) won for the third time in four games and advanced by scoring all of their goals after halftime.

Holmen controlled play during a scoreless first half before its pressure led to a couple of goals that opened the path to a second shutout of the Timberwolves.

Freshman Paige Olson and sophomore Lydia Sader both scored in the first five minutes of the second half to build momentum, and sophomore Moira Linse recorded her team’s eighth shutout of the season.

Sophomore Taylor Bembnister scored Holmen’s third goal with an assist from freshman Sophie Sieler.

DIVISION 3

Top-seeded West Salem (12-3-1) received a quarterfinal bye but learned its semifinal opponent for Thursday.

The Panthers will host ninth-seeded Spooner/Shell Lake after it handed eighth-seeded Arcadia/Independence a 1-0 loss on Tuesday.

DIVISION 4

Third-seeded Aquinas was supposed to host sixth-seeded Adams-Friendship in a regional semifinal on Thursday, but that game has already been forfeited.

The Blugolds (13-3-2), who are ranked third in Division 4 by state coaches, will play at second-seeded River Valley in a regional final at 4 p.m. Saturday.
