TREMPEALEAU — The Onalaska Luther High School boys golf team is headed to a WIAA Division 3 sectional after a second-place finish at the C-FC Regional on Wednesday.
The Knights shot a collective 319 at Trempealeau Mountain, and that was only beaten by Durand-Arkansaw’s 296. The finish gave Luther a spot in the Williams Bay Sectional at Delbrook Golf Course on Tuesday in Delavan.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on those teams are sectional qualifiers, and the Knights finished two shots ahead of third-place C-FC and comfortably ahead of fourth-place Eleva-Strum (344).
Luther was led by senior Synclair Byus, who shot a 7-over-par 78 and placed sixth individually behind co-medalists Cameron Lipinski of C-FC and Logan Weissinger of Durand-Arkansaw (72).
Byus highlighted his round with a birdie on No. 6 and shot a 1-under 34 on the front nine.
The Knights also received scoring rounds from freshman Robert Bruns (79), senior Logan Sherry (80) and senior Ian Bass (82).
