TREMPEALEAU — The Aquinas High School boys golf team won a WIAA Division 2 regional championship by finishing 19 shots ahead of the field at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Blugolds finished with a team score of 309 to complete the course comfortably ahead of second-place Black River Falls (328) and third-place West Salem (329) heading into the Hayward Sectional on June 4.
Arcadia placed ninth with a score of 348.
Aquinas had three of the top five individuals and was led by runner-up sophomore Jack Vogel and his 3-over-par 74. He recorded three birdies on his way to the 74, getting those on No. 8, No. 12 and No. 15.
Sophomore Michael Jones and freshman James Siegert were part of a third-place tie at 76. Arcadia freshman Landon Laszewski was also in that group and is an individual sectional qualifier.
Senior Matthew Rabindra also shot an 84 for Aquinas.
The Panthers were led by sophomore Noah Wachter and his seventh-place 78. Senior Kyle Hehli added an 80, senior Logan Oldenburg an 85 and junior Landon Michlig an 86.
The Raiders also received scoring rounds from sophomore Brogan Solberg (86), senior Stryder Miller (91) and senior Carson Schultz (95).
