PRAIRIE DU SAC — The Onalaska High School boys golf team qualified to play in a WIAA Division 1 sectional by winning the Sauk Prairie Regional on Tuesday.
The Hilltoppers shot a collective 322 at the Lake Wisconsin Country Club and beat second-place Baraboo by four strokes. Holmen was third at 331 and also qualified to play in the Holmen Sectional at Drugan’s Castle Mound on June 3.
The top four teams and players not on those teams qualify to play in the sectional.
Senior John Werwinski shot a 6-over-par 76 and was the top individual player. Freshman teammates Rylan Tomashek and Colten Schroeder were part of a fourth-place tie with rounds of 80 to help Onalaska’s team performance. Senior Noah Chenault added an 86.
Werwinski carded three birdies, beating par on No. 5, No. 6 and No. 13. He shot a 1-over 37 on the front nine. Schroeder also birdied No. 6, and Tomashek birdied No. 13.
Holmen senior Cale Halaska was also part of the fourth-place tie after shooting 5 over on the front and 5 over on the back. Senior Spencer Gault shot an 83, junior Ayden Dirks an 83 and junior Logan Pinnow an 85.
The Central/Logan co-op shot a score of 356 to place seventh. Senior Zach Weis shot an 84 to lead the team grab an individual sectional qualifier spot. He was followed by sophomore Sid Hooyman (87), senior Maddox Herlitzke (88) and junior Chase Seeger (97).
