Monday ASL report: Onalaska tops Holmen in tournament wiffle ball game

HOLMEN — The Onalaska High School ASL wiffle ball team scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to beat Holmen 13-12 in a first-round playoff game at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Monday.

Holmen took an 11-9 lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth before the Hilltoppers came back. Karsen Nelson doubled to get things going in the fourth, and Gabriella Villareal followed with an RBI. Gabe Schams and Logan Rastall also drove in runs for the Vikings as they took the lead.

Holmen cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the fifth when Nick Hermann doubled and Aiden Romskog drove him in, but Onalaska held on for the win.

Carter Van Lin hit a first-inning home run for the Vikings, who also received run-scoring hits from Jack Teegan and Nelson for a 3-0 lead. Villareal doubled and initiated a double play in the second inning, and sacrifice flies by Carly Langlois and Hermann, and an RBI by Andrew Bell gave Holmen a 7-5 lead before the Hilltoppers moved back in front.
