MELROSE — The Melrose-Mindoro High School baseball team allowed the tying run to score in the top of the seventh inning but broke the tie with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on Friday.
The Mustangs received an RBI double from right fielder Isaiah Kleinsmith after Jayce Stetzer drew a walk for the winning run in a 5-4 victory over Blair-Taylor.
The Wildcats (9-5, 8-3 Dairyland-Small) entered the game ranked eighth in Division 4, and Melrose-Mindoro’s five runs are the third-most they’ve allowed in a game all season. The Mustangs (13-3, 9-1 Dairyland-Large) finished with eight hits and eight stolen bases in their eighth straight victory.
First baseman/shortstop Brady Blaken was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and pitcher Jacob Thesing and shortstop/catcher Brewer Schlifer knocked in a run each. Blaken also doubled for Melrose-Mindoro, which plays second-place Osseo-Fairchild on Tuesday.
Thesing and Stetzer combined to limit Blair-Taylor to four hits.
Holmen 11, G-E-T 1 (6)
GALESVILLE — The Vikings (11-4-1) scored five runs in the second inning and four in the fifth to beat the Red Hawks.
Junior right fielder Joe Meeter was 4 for 4 with three triples, three runs scored and four RBIs for Holmen, which had 10 hits and received two-hit pitching from senior Paul Goryl.
Goryl struck out six and allowed one earned run on two singles and two walks.
Senior first baseman Noah Oswald was 2 for 2 with two sacrifice flies and four RBIs for the Vikings, who lead the MVC with an 8-0 record.
Second baseman Nolan Mashak also tripled and knocked in two runs.
Aquinas 11, Black River Falls 1 (6)
LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (12-2), who are ranked third in Division 2 by state coaches, won their ninth game in a row and scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game at Lee Gilbert Field.
Eleven of 12 Aquinas hits went for singles, and second baseman Isaac Schelfhout was 2 for 3 with four RBIs and a stolen base.
Pitcher Landon Teachout had the Blugolds’ lone extra-base hit — a double — and finished 3 for 4 with four RBIs. Waylon Hargrove and Aedan David each had a run-scoring hit for Aquinas,
Teachout pitched a complete game and struck out nine for the Blugolds, who host Prairie du Chien on Saturday. He allowed six hits — five of them singles — and no earned runs.
Randolph 4, Caledonia 3
RANDOLPH — The Warriors (10-5) allowed all four runs to score in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Left fielder Will Allen tripled and drove in two runs for Caledonia, which scored twice in the top of the seventh. Allen hit his triple in the seventh, and Mason King followed by drawing a walk.
The final out was then made with Caledonia runners at the corners. Reid Klug also had an RBI for the Warriors.

STEVENS POINT — The RiverHawks (2-13) had their losing streak extend to six games after striking out 15 times.
Catcher Jude Alvarado drove in Central’s run in the first game, and left fielder Landon Smith plated its run in the second game.
Second baseman Liam Branson was 3 for 3 with three singles in the second game. First baseman Jake Larson was 2 for 3 with a double and Smith helped the RiverHawks avoid the shutout with a solo home run in the second inning.
