LA CROSSE — The Central High School boys and Onalaska girls track and field teams both placed third in team standings for the Hanson Invitational at Central on Thursday.
The RiverHawks scored 88 points in a boys meet win by Chippewa Falls (200), and the Hilltoppers 98 in a girls meet won by Eau Claire Memorial (158).
Central’s Sean Erickson and Nevyn Mathews both won event championships. Erickson won the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 6.36 seconds) and Mathews the long jump (19 feet, 9 inches). Onalaska’s Wylder Burch also won the high jump (6-0).
Second-place finishes were turned in by Central’s Bode Nesler (3,200, 10:12.04) and Gabe Servais (300 hurdles, 42.91), Holmen’s Camden Thiele (pole vault, 11-0) and Onalaska’s Gabe Mauss (triple jump, 40-9).
Central and Aquinas both has two relays place second.
Isaac Finch and Brady Lee ran on both of those relays for the Blugolds. Jack Branson and Declan Hass joined them in the 400 (45.44) and Eli Horstman and Trey Bahr on the 800 (1:33.04).
Erickson ran on both second-place teams for Central. He was joined by Joey Pretasky, Mathews and Harold Nachtman on the 1,600 (3:31.25) and Finn Emlet, Griffin Rudie and Lyndon Torkelson on the 3,200 (8:29.42).
Onalaska’s Luke Siegel (300 hurdles, 42.99), Brendan Chenault (high jump, 5-10) and Andrew Hatcher (discus, 123-3), Central’s Aiden Gardner (pole vault, 10-6) and West Salem’s Carter Quackenbush (1,600, 4:32.61) all placed third individually.
Holmen’s 3,200 relay of August Stoltz, Brennan Schloegel,Mason Moss and Dylan Whiteaker) placed third in 8:50.69.
Onalaska received three individual wins from its girls.
Isabella Malecek won the 400 (59.17), Kendall Carlson the high jump (5-2) and Makena McGarry the long jump (18-1).
West Salem’s Olivia Maki (300 hurdles, 47.88) and Aquinas’ Eliot McKnight (discus, 118-0.5) were also individual champs.
The Holmen relay team of Alivia Wickstrom, Abry Bloyer, Hadley Johnson and Lydia Lazarescu won the 400 relay (49.34), and the Aquinas team of Caitlin Wengel, Helen Onyeabor, Hope Hawker and Alex Myre the 3,200 relay (10:29.06).
Onalaska’s Ella Stevens was second in the 200 (26.1). Maki (100 hurdles, 16.53) and Malecek (high jump (4-10) added third-place finishes, along with Onalaska’s Eliana Mascotti (300 hurdles, 49.07) and Rickie Tillotson (ytiple jump, 33-3.5).
Central’s 400 relay of Sierra Fried, Celia Christopherson, Lily Christopherson and McKenna Michaels was third (51.52) as was the Aquinas 800 relay team of Alaina Elias, Samantha Davis, Ava Kujak and Emily Lepak (1:49.76).
Dairyland True Team
AUGUSTA — Melrose-Mindoro’s boys were third and girls were fourth with 954.5 and 711 points, respectively.
Sophomore Bristol Coats was a four-time event champion to lead the girls. Coats won the 100 (13.54 seconds), 200 (27.28), 300 hurdles (49.76) and long jump (17-8.75).
Isabella Libke also won the pole vault (8-6) and Sheila Johnson the high jump (5-0).
The Mustangs also picked up a relay victory when Payten Craig, Alexiah Stanton, Hope Meimann and Kendyl Parker won the 800 in 1:58.91.
STanton, Parker, Meimann and Johnson were second in the 1,600 relay (4:40.18), and Libke, Emma Thao, Stanton and Parker were 3rd in the 400 relay (57.59).
Parker added second place in the triple jump (28-8) and Cortney Nicolai third in the 110 hurdles (20.19).
The boys team received wins from Landon Windsor in the long jump (20-1.5), Caleb Arneson in the 3,200 (11:18.03) and Collin Christianson in the pole vault (11-6).
Trajan McRoberts was second in the 400 (55.59), and Aeron Hanson (300 hurdles, 44.18) and Rawlins Clark (pole vault, 11-0) matched him.
The Mustangs received second-place finishes from three relays.
Landon Windsor, Isaak Christianson, Merek Windsor and Clark were second in the 400 (47.75), Landon Windsor, Collin Christianson, Brooks Cowley and Jackson Boese were second in the 800 (1:36.73), and Collin Christianson, Hanson, McRoberts and Boese were second in the 1,600 (3:40.77).
Drayten Wade (1,600, 5:34.16), Merek Windsor (high jump, 5-4), Isaiah Erickson (shot put, 39-4, and discus, 120-11) all gave Melrose-Mindoro third-place finishes.
