Saturday baseball report: Arcadia splits two at quadrangular, Holmen swept in doubleheader

BALDWIN — The Arcadia High School baseball team split two games at the Baldwin-Woodville Quadrangular on Saturday.

The Raiders (7-7) started off with a 6-1 victory over Eleva-Strum before dropping an 8-6 decision at the hands of Baldwin-Woodville.

Arcadia scored two runs in the third inning and four more in the sixth in the victory over the Cardinals and finished with eight hits.

Left fielder Caleb Pronschinske as 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for the Raiders, and infielder/pitcher Deklyn Grzadzielewski was 2 for 2 and drove in a run. First baseman Login Scow also had an RBI for Arcadia.

Logan Breska pitched four hitless innings and struck out six with three walks.

Scow and Carter Wegman both stole home in the loss to Baldwin-Woodville.

Scow also hit an RBI double in the fourth inning. Wegman followed that with his steal of home to get Arcadia within 6-5 after Baldwin-Woodville had scored five unanswered runs.

Pronschinske and Max Blashko drove in runs to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

MENOMONIE — The Vikings (10-4-1) were swept by the Mustangs one day after beating Logan by the 10-run rule.

Catcher Braeden Linse was 2 for 2, second baseman Nolan Mashak 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored and Jude Anderson 2 for 4 with a stolen base and an RBI for Holmen, which allowed two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning after tying the game at 2 in the top of the fifth.

Paul Goryl pitched six innings and allowed one earned run on two walks and six hits while striking out three.

Menomonie broke a 5-5 tie by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in the second game.
Mashak was 2 for 3 with two RBIs in the second game, while left fielder Kekoa Rodgers was 2 for 4 with an RBI and shortstop Brandon Metzler 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Holmen allowed seven unearned runs to score in the doubleheader.
