Thursday golf report: West Salem second in Coulee Conference meet; Arcadia’s Jaszewski co-medalist

ETTRICK — The West Salem High School boys golf team shot a collective score of 170 to finish one shot off the pace in a Coulee Conference meet at the Ettrick Golf Club on Thursday.

The Panthers were only beaten by champion Black River Falls (169) and finished one stroke better than both Onalaska Luther and Westby/Viroqua (171).

Seniors Kyle Hehli and Gavin Loging both shot 4-over-par 40 to tie for fourth place individually in a meet won by Black River Falls sophomore Sam Aebly and Arcadia freshman Landon Jaszewski and their even-par 36s.

Westby/Viroqua’s Brooks Hoffland was third with a 38.

Hehli had a rough start to his round but got back on track with birdies on No. 4 and 5.

Luther was led by senior Ian Bass (sixth, 41) and senior Logan Sherry (seventh, 42).

Senior Logan Oldenburg and sophomore Noah Wachter also shot scoring rounds for the Panthers with a 44 and 46, respectively. Senior Synclair Byus (43) and freshman Robert Bruns (45) also scored for the Knights.

Arcadia finished sixth at 185, and Jaszewski was backed up by 49 from freshman Owen Anderson.
