HOLMEN — Kian Carlisle hit a three-run double in the second inning for the big hit as the Holmen High School ASL wiffle ball team beat West Salem 10-1 at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Thursday.
Carlisle’s double followed run-scoring hits from Gabe Schams and Carly Langlois in the second as the Vikings pulled away from the Panthers with five runs.
Holmen added to its lead with five more runs in the fourth — Josie Colombo had a two-run hit — and continued its offensive firepower. Carlisle added an RBI triple, Jack Teegan had a sacrifice fly, and Gabrielle Villareal hit another RBI triple in the fourth. Aiden Romskog started the rally with a hit.
That, coupled with plenty of big defensive plays, allowed Holmen to prevail. Karsen Nelson provided one on a pop fly to the outfield, and Schams turned a catch at first base into a double play in the second.
West Salem coach Ashly Serres said the defensive plays by the Vikings led to some frustration for her team, which was making good swings on the ball but getting nothing out of them. She said lessons were learned for the remainder of the season.
