LA CROSSE — The Onalaska High School softball team maintained its runner-up spot in the MVC by taking care of Aquinas 14-1 in five innings at Pammel Creek Fields on Tuesday.
Freshman pitcher Sydney Kraus hit two home runs and went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and four runs driven in for the Hilltoppers (9-2,6-1). She also struck out four and allowed the Blugolds (4-8, 2-5) just two hits.
Outfielders Jenna Gansen and Alexa Larson and first baseman Zoey Lichty also had two hits for Onalaska, and Gansen, McKenzie Runde and Lauren Pica each drove in two runs.
Tomah 14, Logan 1 (6)
LA CROSSE — The first-place Timberwolves pulled away from the Rangers (2-12, 1-6) by scoring five runs in the fourth inning and adding fie more in the sixth.
Sophomore catcher Maria Weber was 2 for 2, stole two bases and scored Logan’s only run. She scored the Rangers’ lone run when she was driven in by sophomore Mariana Rojo.
Holmen 15, Sparta 1 (5)
HOLMEN — The third-place Vikings (5-6, 5-2) scored at least three runs in every inning to get an early finish against the Spartans at Viking Elementary.
Gabi Stuhr held Sparta to five hits, struck out seven and didn’t allow an earned run or walk a batter.
First baseman Taylor Everson went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, a home run and three RBIs for Holmen, which scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Right fielder Imani Toso was 3 for 3 with a double.
Shortstop Macy Kline contributed to Holmen’s 15-hit attack by going 2 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored from the top of the order. Josie Happel also went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, and McKenna McHugh tripled while going 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Arcadia 14, Viroqua 4 (6)
ARCADIA — The Raiders (9-5, 7-2) won their fourth game in a row and pulled away with a five-run fourth inning.
Tatum Drazkowski went 4 for 5 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three stolen bases while Layna Wozney struck out six, walked two and allowed two hits during her three innings pitched. Wozney also stole five bases and drove in two runs.
Amaya Schlesser was 3 for 4 with an RBI and four stolen bases, and Kaitlyn Bremer 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. Kaley Fitzpatrick added a double.
West Salem 13, Onalaska Luther 0 (5)
WEST SALEM — The Panthers took control with six runs in the first two innings, and junior Josie Brudos struck out 12 Knights (5-7, 0-5) and allowed one hit over four innings.
Second-place West Salem (9-4, 5-1) had nine hits, and Maclaine Heilman, Brudos and Megan Johnson each had two of them. Johnson tripled and drove in two runs, and Kylie Elsen drove in two more. Heilman also had two RBIs and scored twice, and Brudos scored three times.
Alma/Pepin 2, Melrose-Mindoro 1
PEPIN — The first-place Mustangs (11-2, 7-1) had a five-game winning streak snapped when they allowed two fourth-inning runs and couldn’t catch up.
Shortstop Cooper Zeman scored a run n the top of the fifth when she singled and scored on an error while stealing third base with one out.
Bella Rozek walked, and Madeline Frauenkron added a two-out single in the top of the seventh. A walk to Miranda Banse loaded the bases before Alma/Pepin got the out it needed for the victory.
Fraunekron was 2 for 4 for Melrose-Mindoro.
