LA CROSSE — A pair of Aquinas High School freshman topped the leaderboard to help the Blugolds win an 18-hole MVC meet at Forest Hills Golf Course on Monday.
Freshman James Siegert shot an even-par 73 with an adventurous round that included just seven pars and helped Aquinas to a team score of 310. Siegert eagled No. 11 and added birdies at 7, 12 and 18 to balance his bogeys and beat the field by four strokes.
Classmate Luke Jones finished alone in second place among individuals with a 4-over 77 and helped the Blugolds beat second-place Holmen (325) by 15 strokes. Sophomore Jack Vogel also finished as part of a fourth-place tie with a 79 for Aquinas.
Senior Zach Weis shot a 78 and was alone in third place to represent Central/Logan.
The Vikings were led by senior Cale Halaska, whose 79 placed him in the fourth-place tie. Senior Spencer Gault followed in eighth place with an 80.
Onalaska placed fourth with a 329 and was led by freshmen Rylan Tomashek and Colten Schroeder, who tied for ninth place with 81s.
