Saturday lacrosse/soccer report: Lightning split two in Green Bay; Central draws with River Falls

GREEN BAY — The Central co-operative boys lacrosse team split a pair of games hosted by Green Bay Notre Dame on Saturday.

The Lightning, comprised of players from Central, Logan, Aquinas, Onalaska, Luther, Holmen and West Salem, opened with a 16-6 victory over Pulaski before the host Tritons handed them a 9-6 defeat.

The Lightning (2-3) had an 11-2 lead by halftime of the victory over Pulaski. Jax Hendrickson of Luther scored four goals in that game, and Central’s Grayson Veum had four goals and one assist. Central’s CJ Kaye and Onalaska’s Shawn McKane also scored two goals each for the co-op.

Notre Dame avenged a loss from earlier this season in the second game.

La Crosse came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game at 3 after one quarter, but Notre Dame scored twice unanswered in the second for a 5-3 halftime lead before the Lightning score three times in the second half.

Veum and Central’s Charlie Seehafer had two goals and one assist against the Tritons, while McKane added two more goals.

The Lightning travels to Wisconsin Dells for their next two games on May 10.

Central 0, River Falls 0

LA CROSSE — The RiverHawks (2-0-1) earned a draw with the state’s seventh-ranked Division 2 team.

Laura Lapp had two saves for Central, which directed six shots on the Wildcats’ goal but couldn’t get any of them by Neva Espanet.
