WEST SALEM — The West Salem High School softball team used a five-run bottom of the fifth inning to highlight a 9-3 nonconference victory over visiting Logan on Friday.
Center fielder Josie Brudos and shortstop Megan Johnson were both 2 for 4 with a pair of runs batted in to lead the Panthers (4-1), who turned three Logan errors into three unearned runs. Brudos hit her second home run in as many days after hitting a grand slam against Arcadia on Thursday.
Right fielder Makinlee Marshall also drove in two runs for West Salem.
London Vanderhorst pitched for the Panthers and struck out nine while walking four and allowing five hits. None of the three runs against her were earned.
Catcher Maria Weber was 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Rangers.
Caledonia 10, P-E-M 3
PLAINVIEW — The Warriors (4-0) continued their unbeaten season and scored at least once in six of the seven innings.
Catcher Adrienne Lange went 3 for 4, scored three runs and stole six bases for Caledonia, which pulled away from a 3-0 lead with two runs in the fifth, two more in the sixth and three in the seventh innings.
Shortstop Lily Wiebke was also 3 for 4 with a double and two stolen bases. Brairy Proulx hit a home run to highlight a 2-for-4 performance, and center fielder Nora Staggemeyer had two hits and drove in two runs for Caledonia.
Avery Augedahl struck out 15 without walking a batter and allowed three hits and no earned runs during a complete game.

HOLMEN — The Vikings (2-3) were led offensively by shortstop Macy Kline, who was a combined 3 for 6 with a double, three RBIs and three stolen bases.
First baseman Taylor Everson was 2 for 2 with two walks and an RBI in the first game, and second baseman Makenzie Nunemacher was 2 for 3 in the opener and drove in two runs in the second game.
Left fielder Avalee Euler also drove in two runs in the second game.
