LA CROSSE — The Onalaska High School boys basketball team won for the second time in three games and completed a regular-season sweep of Logan with an 85-49 victory over the Rangers at the Steve Hole Field House on Friday.
The fourth-place Hilltoppers (15-7, 7-4) are one game behind first-place Aquinas (18-2, 7-2) and a half-game behind both Holmen (15-5, 7-3) and Central (12-7, 7-3) with one conference game remaining against the RiverHawks on Thursday in Onalaska.
Onalaska was led by 20-point performances from juniors Ian Kowal and Rowan McGrath. Kowal made three 3-pointers and scored 16 of his points in the first half, and McGrath scored 10 in each half.
Senior Broden Steiner added 16 points for the Hilltoppers, who led 40-22 at halftime.
The Rangers (6-15, 1-9) were led by freshman Tommy Check’s 16 points. Senior Jacob Hackbarth added 13 and sophomore Bubba Leaver 11.
Caledonia 92, Fillmore Central 31
CALEDONIA — The third-ranked Warriors (23-2) had a 43-point lead by the end of the first half on the way to winning their 12th game in a row and third straight by at least 34 points.
Caledonia had 12 players score against the Falcons, and freshman Grant King scored a game-high 21 points. Senior Garrett Konz added 19 and senior Mason King 15 for the Warriors, who close out their regular season by hosting Winona Cotter on Tuesday.
