LA CRESCENT — The La Crescent-Hokah High School boys hockey team scored once in the first period and twice in the third to beat West Salem/Bangor 3-1 at the La Crescent Ice Arena on Tuesday.
The Panthers (4-14) avoided the shutout when junior Coen Knutson scored with assists from Tyler Meyer and Terryn Boland at 14 minutes, 40 seconds of the third. It was Knutson’s fourth goal and the 13th assist for both Meyer and Boland. They are tied for the team lead in assists.
Colin Devine played in goal for West Salem/Bangor and made 21 saves. The Panthers close out their regular season by hosting the Avalanche on Thursday in a 7 p.m. start.
The Panthers have a No. 8 seed for the WIAA Division 2 regional tournament and play at top-seeded Somerset on Feb. 20. That game begins at 5:45 p.m.

Black River Falls co-op 6, Coulee Region 0
BLACK RIVER FALLS — The Cyclones (4-16-1) closed out the regular season by being shut out by the Tigers at the Milt Lunda Memorial Arena.
Coulee Region managed just 16 shots, and Grace Johnsrude had 30 saves in goal.
The Cyclones are seeded seventh for the upcoming WIAA regional tournament and play at second-seeded Somerset on Feb. 20. The game begins at 8 p.m.
