ONALASKA — The Aquinas/Holmen co-op boys hockey team used a goal from Mikah Vail in overtime for a 3-2 victory over the Reedsburg co-op at the OmniCenter on Friday.
The Avalanche (6-5) forced overtime when James Siegert scored unassisted at 9 minutes, 25 seconds in the third period. Vail’s winning score came with assists from Jax Hendrickson and Casey Keane and was his fifth of the season.
Keane scored Aquinas/Holmen’s first goal and pushed his season totals to three goals and six assists. Vail is tied with Jack Barth for the team lead in goals and Keane tops the roster in assists this season. Siegert’s goal was his second.
Mason Kelm played in goal for the Avalanches and stopped 28 of the 30 shots directed his way.
Somerset 6, Onalaska/La Crosse 2
SOMERSET — The Hilltoppers (5-7) scored once in the first period and once in the second but were outshot 30-18 at the Somerset Ice Arena.
Grayson Andel scored with assists from Jude Alvarado and Logan Sauter to give Onalaska/La Crosse a 1-0 lead before the Spartans scored the first three goals of the second period to take control.
Parker Lycke converted a pass from Jackson Tillman to make it 3-2 at the 15:22 mark of the second but Somerset dominated the third period.
Andel’s goal was his team-leading ninth of the season. Lycke scored his sixth goal, and Sauter recorded his seventh assist.
GIRLS
Lakeshore 3, Coulee Region 0
MILWAUKEE — The Cyclones (3-6-1) were shut out and allowed one goal in each of the three periods.
Diana Hanson stopped 33 shots in goal for Coulee Region, which was outshot 36-15.
