WEST SALEM — The West Salem/Bangor co-op boys hockey team overcame a two-goal deficit and scored four of the final five goals to hand Viroqua a 4-3 loss at the Panther Den on Tuesday.
The Panthers (2-0) surrendered the first two goals, but Coen Knutson scored with an assist from Lincoln Rahzen at 11 minutes, 49 seconds of the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and claim their second straight victory.
Ryder Steele had tied the game at 3 with an assist from Jack Dahl early in the third. Dahl also scored once for the Blackhawks.
West Salem/Bangor also received two goals from Terryn Boland and two assists from Tyler Meyer.
La Crescent-Hokah 6, Black River Falls co-op 3
LA CRESCENT — The Lancers (2-1) used a hat trick from Ethan Myhre and climbed out of two early deficits to beat the visiting Tigers.
Myhre scored once in the first period and twice in the third, ending the scoring by converting on an empty net. Teammate Alex Von Arx assisted on Myhre’s first goal, then scored twice in the second period to send the Lancers to the third with a 4-2 lead. Myhre also assisted on Von Arx’s second goal.
Cooper Johnston also scored for La Crescent-Hokah, and Wyatt Hanna, Briar Peterson and Drew Apicella scored for Black River Falls.
GIRLS
Coulee Region 5, Viroqua co-op 0
VIROQUA — The Cyclones scored twice in the second period and twice again in the third to upend the Blackhawks.
Julianna Stier and Gianna Sanchez each had one goal and one assist, and Makenna Olson had two assists for Coulee Region, which also received goals from Brooke Borkenhagen, Maycee Marson and Ellie Hoehn.
Senior Diana Hanson stopped all 18 shots she faced in goal to record the shutout for the Cyclones.
