BANGOR — The Onalaska Luther High School girls basketball team picked up its first victory of the season by blowing past Bangor 62-40 in a nonconference game Tuesday.
The Knights (1-1) jumped out to a 19-point lead after one half and had nine players score against the Cardinals.
Sophomore Jaeyda Livingston scored a team-high 15 points for Luther, which opened its season with a loss to Onalaska. Livingston made four 3-pointers and hit three of them in the first half.
Sophomore Natalie Hackbarth added 11 points for the Knights, who pick up their schedule by playing at Tomah on Dec. 2.
Caledonia 62, Winona Cotter 26
CALEDONIA — The Warriors (1-1) evened their record for the season by taking care of the Ramblers.
Senior Aubrie Klug scored a team-high 18 points for Caledonia, which pulled away from a 12-point halftime lead by holding Cotter to six second-half points. Klug made two of the team’s five 3-pointers.
Nicole Banse added 16 points and Kensey King and Ashlyn Reinhart 10 apiece for the Warriors.
Melrose-Mindoro 66, Osseo-Fairchild 38
OSSEO — The Mustangs (2-1) led 36-17 after one half before pulling away for their second win in three games.
Senior Anna Radcliffe made a 3-pointer and scored 12 of her team-high 20 points in the first half for Melrose-Mindoro.
Senior Cooper Zeman made five 3-pointers — four i the first half — on her way to 17 points for the Mustangs, who made 10 3s. Senior teammate Calysta Bautch added 11 points with two first-half 3-pointers.
Eau Claire Memorial 69, Holmen 22
EAU CLAIRE — The Old Abes (1-1), ranked eighth in Division 1 in the Bound/Zaleski Sports media poll, dominated the Vikings (1-1), who scored just eight points in the second half.
Holmen was down 37-14 after one half and were held to eight field goals in the game.
Sophomore Makenzie Nunemacher scored a team-high six points for the Vikings, who also received four from senior Macy Kline.
Chippewa Falls McDonell 53, Onalaska 44
CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Hilltoppers (2-1) were beaten for the first time.
The Macks, ranked ninth in Division 4, had a five-point lead after one half, and Onalaska couldn’t get over the hump after cutting the deficit to one possession several times.
Junior Olivia Passehl scored 14 points to lead the Hilltoppers, who also received 12 from sophomore Kayla Ketelhut. Passehl made three 3-pointers, and junior Natalie Marso added seven points.
Winona 54, Logan 36
LA CROSSE — The Rangers (0-2) dropped their home opener at the Steve Hole Fieldhouse without two of their top players in seniors Lydia Mason and Kaia DePaolo.
Nine players scored for Logan, which was outscored by 13 points in the second half.
Junior Emma Bacon made three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 13 points for the Rangers, who also received six from junior Lilly Dettwiler.
