REEDSBURG — The Aquinas/Holmen co-op boys hockey team started its season with a 4-2 victory over Reedsburg on Tuesday.
The Avalanche, who also include players from Onalaska Luther, G-E-T and C-FC, scored twice in the second period and twice in the third.
Mikah Vail, a junior from G-E-T, and James Siegert, a sophomore from Aquinas, scored two goals each for the Avalanche.
Reedsburg tied the game at 2 with a goal early in the third period before Vail knotted things up with assists from Siegert and Jack Franzini at the 10:06 mark. Siegert followed that up by scoring unassisted on a power play at 16:48 to produce the final score.
Vail also scored on a power play with assists from Jack Eckelberg and Jax Hendrickson in the second period. Siegert’s goal with an assist from Franzini, followed Vail’s and gave the Avalanche a 2-1 lead at 16:26 in the second period.
Sophomore goaltender Liam Collins stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced for the Avalanche.
