MELROSE — Senior Anna Radcliffe scored 19 of her game-high 31 points in the first half as the Melrose-Mindoro High School girls basketball team opened its season with a 55-51 victory over visiting Augusta on Tuesday.
The Mustangs (1-0) came back from an 11-point halftime deficit to hold the Beavers to 15 second-half points and pick up the victory.
Radcliffe, who averaged more than 13 points per game as a junior, made five 3-pointers and hit three of them in the first half.
Senior Cooper Zeman made a pair of second-half 3-pointers and scored 10 of her 12 points after halftime for Melrose-Mindoro, which also received eight points from sophomore Brynn Cogdill.
